I spoke with Kathryn a few minutes ago. The team left Aklampka this morning and went to Glazoue (sort of our "home base" in the Mahi region) and checked into the Bethel hotel for one night. They are taking the day to rest, recharge, and rejuvenate before heading to the next village. They will also spend some time debriefing and evaluating the first storying camp. At the Bethel the team will enjoy air conditioning, showers (as opposed to bucket baths), and cold Cokes! Always a good way to recharge :)
Yesterday, the team spent some time with the Filani. They discovered that even though the Filani people are migratory, they do have some villages and just move back and forth among the different small villages. In one of the villages, they discovered a small group of believers that have formed a church. The Filani did not have a well. The closest well is over 10 km away. They showed the team their water source--Kathryn said is was just a mud puddle and was almost dried up because it had not rained in 2 days. The team was able to share a Bible story and pray with the Filani. They specifically prayed for rain. Last night the rains came! Thank you God for answering prayers.
Because of the rains, the roads are tough to navigate. Pray the team will have safe travel as they head to Oudeme tomorrow. Storying camp #2 begins Thursday morning.
