Day 2 of the storying camp in Logozohue went well. The number of participants increased to around 35-40. 1/2 the team conducted the storying training and the other 1/2 went out evangelizing in the surrounding area. The camp participants continued learning biblical stories and strategies to use the stories for evangelism. The group evangelizing reported that they were well received in the village and had many opportunities to share the gospel.
Flexibility is important on any mission trip--it is a critical necessity in the African bush. This week the team has been reminded that they need to be flexible. Although previously unplanned, on Wednesday, Travis, Austin and Jenna along with Calixte (one of the translators) will travel to Thio (pronounced chee-oh) to conduct a 2 day mini storying camp. Thio is near Glazoue and does not have an evangelical church in the village. On a previous trip, a small group of believers in Thio shared with us their strong desire to have a church. The storying camp has the potential to jumpstart a new church and give the church a solid base. Pray for Jenna, Austin, Travis and Calixte as they travel to Thio and conduct this training. They will spend 2 days in Thio and travel to Glazoue late Thursday evening.
The rest of our team will remain in Logozohue and finish the training camp there. They will join the others in Glazoue Thursday evening. Pray for effective and efficient teaching. Pray that our team members will be guarded against a sense of boredom or routine and that each story taught will have a supernatural newness and freshness to it.
Marc and John will be on the road a great deal in the next day or two. Also, the team members will be traveling from Logozohue to Glazoue/Thio--about a 1 hour drive over roads that are more pot hole than pavement. Pray that Marc and Kossi (our other driver) will be totally focused on driving and the vehicles will be surrounded by God's protection.
As plans and schedules are changed, pray that each team member is completely flexible and open to the direction God leads them. Pray that communication among the team members, the Mahi pastors and lay leaders, and the other nationals like Marc working with the team remains fluid and open. Pray that the language and cultural barriers that might ordinarily hinder communication are totally removed.
The team continues to see the Kingdom impacted and enlarged. Much of their success in this is due to the prayers of the many people here who are praying constantly. I ask you to continue praying--intentionally and deliberately. As the time goes by and the team gets tired, it is easier for Satan to create distractions. Keep praying.
