The team spent the day evangelizing and storying in villages surrounding Oudeme. God promised us His Word would not go out empty and we are seeing the manifestation of that promise! Some of the team shared with an elderly woman who was partially paralyzed. She prayed to receive Christ as her Savior. Then the team encouraged her to get involved in the local church. She immediately said it would be almost impossible because of her paralysis. One of the lay leaders in the church who had participated in the storying camp said he would be available any and every time she wanted to go to church. He made himself available to carry her to church so she could join in the worship and grow in her newfound faith. Our team was excited for this new sister in Christ and for the evidence of the local body of believers ministering to those around them.
Another part of the team was sharing the Gospel with a number of Mahi. They were standing right in front of a Voodoo temple. 12 people accepted Christ and denounced the Voodoo. The team shared that it was absolutely amazing to see God's power displayed in front of the Voodoo temple. Praise God!
The story of Daniel in the Lion's Den was shared with 2 ladies who were very attentive. When asked if they wanted to accept Christ as their Savior, the ladies said they were frightened. They wanted their husbands to decide for them and they said their husbands weren't there at the moment. Carefully, the team shared that this decision was one they had to make on their own. The ladies continued to be afraid. The team prayed over the two ladies that they would have a spirit of freedom and come to know the peace of God. Please pray for these two precious women.
THe interpreters continue to be a vital part of the team. One of them, Jacob, has left the team to go to Senegal for a translation test. He speaks fluent French, English, and Spanish. If he passes this exam, he will be moving his family to New York and work as a translator for the UN. Even though he is no longer assisting our team, he was an important member of the team for the first two weeks and endeared himself to them. Pray that he does well on his exam and that he continues to seek God's guidance for his life.
Tuesday will find the team in the villages again--hanging out, prayer walking, storying, and evangelizing. Everyone is healthy and surviving the heat. They have not had rain in a couple of days and that makes the heat worse--so everyone is praying for rain. Supper tonight was omelets--everyone was excited to have the fresh eggs.
God is definitely at work among the Mahi! Keep praying.
