In Benin and Ready to Go
The team arrived safely Saturday evening about 2 hours late due to "technical problems" in Paris. They had boarded the plane in Atlanta with their carryon luggage, 2 checked bags between them and 6 boxes of books for a missionary family in Ghana. When they arrived in Benin, they were missing 1 checked bag and 1 box of books. When the team called around midnight Benin time, they were glad to be on the ground and beginning to grasp the reality of Africa!
Sunday morning around 9:15 Georgia time (2:15 Benin time) we received an email update from Jeff Singerman. This is what Jeff had to say:
I know that you are in church services but wanted to let you know that the team is doing great! They were about the last ones out of the airport last night waiting and looking for the 2 lost pieces. Hopefully they will show up on the Air France flight tonight. We finally got them to Calavi around midnight. They slept well and we all attended church at Vedoko where Pierre is the pastor. He is also the president of the Baptist Union (Benin Baptist Convention) here. Everyone did great and enjoyed the lively singing and worship. Pierre had a special time of prayer for them. They ate lunch at the Festivale (affectionally known as the Benin Cracker Barrel) and are now at the beach. We will have supper for them at our house tonight and do a little orientation with them. Monday we will drive them up to Glazoue to get things going. We had a great exchange rate! 517=$1! So that will stretch the team funds quite a bit. We will try and keep you updated as we can. Thanks so much for sending them our way. May God mightily use them to expand His Kingdom!

Kathryn called around 10:00 Benin time (5:00 here) and reported that the missing bags arrived on today's flight from Paris. Everyone is doing great. At 8 a.m. Monday they will leave to travel to Aklampka, the first village where they will conduct the storying camp. At best, they have a 6-8 hour drive with at least 1/2 of it being on dirt roads. Even the paved roads are often more pothole than road. The highway is often busy and dangerous. Pray for safe travel and for no mechanical problems with the vehicles.
Of all the villages the team will be in, Aklampka is the farthest from the base at Glazoue. Without a doubt, the small church in Aklampka and the believers will be praying and fasting for the team as they travel.
Pray for their safety as they travel. Pray for the final preparations for the camp and for quick acclimation to Benin. Pray for the nationals who will be attending the camp.
