The team woke up Tuesday morning no longer feeling totally exhausted. It is truly an answered prayer that they are feeling rested, have adjusted to the time change, and have recovered from the grueling travel to Benin. Keep praying that each night brings peaceful and bountiful sleep.
Today was the first day of the Leadership Camp. John Walker describes it as having been "superb". There were 30-40 pastors and lay leaders in attendance. Tomorrow they anticipate even more. On our first trip to Benin we met with and identified only 10-15 pastors and now that number has more than doubled! God is truly at work among the Mahi! The college students were sharp and well prepared and did an excellent job in executing the storying training. The schedule was adhered to as planned. John said that watching the team members lead the training sessions felt like "being behind the wheel of a finely tuned automobile." Our girls had a great session with the ladies in attendance and John said as they taught the story of creation, the pastors had some wonderful deep theological discussions about the original sin.
We were able to get more information about the arrangements for the satellite campus of the seminary. The leader agreed to a great price for tuition--much lower than they had originally stated and they agreed to teach up to 20 pastors for the price of 10. This is truly a God-thing!
The weather continues to be very hot--but the mosquito population is down!!!
Our interpreters are actively serving as part of the team. Keep praying for Calixte, Modeste, and Georgette as they work with the team over the next few days. Team member Marie McDonald is fluent in French and has been invaluable--she is pulling double duty--teaching and interpreting.
The team expressed gratitude for your prayers and acknowledged that they could tell people were praying.
They ask for your continued prayers for their personal stamina and for effective training.
Only a superb God could provide such a superb day in this dark land. To Him be honor and glory and praises!
