Eyeglasses and The Word

Sunday morning I had the opportunity to talk with A.B. and get an update on his work in Benin. A.B. reported that the 2nd day of the Pastors' Conference had gone very well. Toward the end of the conference, A.B. distributed copies of the John MacArthur Study Bible in French and the New Testament in Fon (the native language) to the Pastors and lay leaders who needed a copy. Some of the men already had copies of the Bible and others needed it. Beech Haven had purchased the French and Fon Bibles for us to distribute while in Benin.

A.B. reported that they were all very excited about getting copies of God's Word. He then shared a precious story. Jonas, who is the pastor of a church in Logozohe (lo-go-zo-way) and an elderly member of his church were both at the conference. Both men commented that they were having trouble seeing the words on the page. AB had 2 pairs of glasses that he gave the men and both were immediately able to see well enough to read the words. Sunday, AB worshipped and preached in Jonas' church. A.B. said both Jonas and the elderly man had their new Bibles and new glasses with them AND had huge smiles of joy on their faces at being able to read God's word. These 2 men and the others are so appreciative of their new Bibles and treasure them immensely. Praise God that A.B. had extra glasses with him!

Sunday afternoon, Monday and Tuesday A.B. along with his interpreter, Calixte, and his driver, Kossi will be visiting several different villages in the Mahi area. Tuesday morning A.B. will be visiting King Tofa. Pray for A.B.'s ministry in all of the villages and pray especially for a blessed encounter with King Tofa.

Barbara Singerman led the conference sessions for the wives of the pastors involved. She has now returned to Cotonou. Barbara and Jeff will be doing final packing and returning to the USA this week for a year of furlough. They will be at Beech Haven in October for a few days.

A.B. said he could tell the people of Beech Haven were praying for him. He said he felt "much encouraged" by the prayers and requested we continue praying.

Keep praying. Claim the biblical authority we have to bind up Satan, pray for doors to be opened, for hearts to be opened, and for A.B.'s mouth to be open to just the right words for each encounter among the Mahi.
