The team landed in Benin at 5:40 a.m. (local time) just 40 hours after leaving Beech Haven. All the luggage also arrived with the team! The team rested for a short while then worshipped with believers at the Etoile Rouge Baptist Church in Cotonou, Benin. This church is essentially the "mother" church for the Benin Baptist seminary and for the pockets of work that are already in place among the Mahi.
After the morning service, John was able to meet with leaders of the church to share our vision for spreading the Gospel among the Mahi and to partner with them in accomplishing our goals. It was a very productive time together.
After spending some time in orientation and planning, the team was afforded some much welcomed rest. Early Monday morning they will be traveling to Glazoue to begin the camp for the young adult leaders. Pray for safe travel on the often dangerous roads. Pray for the team members to quickly develop relationships with the camp attendees and translators.
More updates will come as the team can relay word back to us.
